Sinking Sand

July 26, 2010 Leave a comment

God promises that he will save us. He promises to stretch out His mighty arms and rescue us out of the sinking sand of drunkenness, homosexuality, hatred, unforgiveness, bitterness, lies, depression and anxiety. These are obviously not the will of God for our life, so then why do we still experience them? We experience all theses because our total focus on Christ has been shaken.

Psalm 16:11 “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

If our focus is on Christ and we are constantly resting in His presence, then we would have joy, and not anxiety or depression. You cannot contain joy, depression, bitterness, anxiety, hatred and unforgivness in your heart at the same time, so you have one or the other. So if you abiding in God’s presence and experiencing His joy, then you would not experience, Unforgiveness, bitterness, lies, depression, anxiety and so forth.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

If we sought God with all our heart, we would not be anxious. The root of all anxiety is worrying, worrying of what you are going to eat, wear, do and so forth.

Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious (worry) about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?”

Mat 6:26” Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Mat 6:27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

Mat 6:28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,

Mat 6:29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Mat 6:30  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Mat 6:31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

Mat 6:32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.”

If we put our trust in Christ, rest and focus on him, we would not worry about these things, and be less anxious.

Philippians 4:6 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Again, a way to combat anxiety is to give thanks and praise God in all circumstances, which will produce joy in your life in the mists of the storm.

Mat 7:24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Mat 7:25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

Mat 7:26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.

Mat 7:27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

The reason why we sink in the mist of our problems is that Christ is not our firm foundation. If Christ is our firm foundation then we will be secure and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts from worry and doubt. If you build, upon a weak foundation, (anything that is not Christ), you will fall, if you build upon a solid foundation (Christ) then you will be secure and withstand the storm. You build upon the sure foundation of Christ by spending time with Him, seeking Him, praying, worshiping Him and reading His word by establishing an ongoing personal relationship with our Father and to be a doer of the word not just a hearer only.

Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Moreover, the joy of the Lord will enable you to float calmly in mist of your storms.

Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Galatians 5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

If we are operating in the fruit of the Spirit, then we would not be holding unto bitterness, unforgiveness, hatred and so on. They both cannot be in your heart; it is one or the other.

SO CHOOSE!

Galatians 5:24 “And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Galatians 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”

Let us be led by the Spirit, feed the spirit and starve the flesh by spending time in God’s presence by reading, meditating in His word, praying and praising Him for His goodness and reverencing Him and worshiping Him. Do not be controlled and dominated by your emotions, submit your emotions to God’s will but be dominated by the Word of the Lord.

Psalm 116:2 “Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.

Psalm 91:15 “When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honour him.”

When you are sinking cry out to God, “Abba, Father”, and He will surely answer you.

Mar 6:45 “Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd.

Mar 6:46 And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray.

Mar 6:47 And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land.

Mar 6:48 And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them,

Mar 6:49 but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out,

Mar 6:50 for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

Mar 6:51 And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. Moreover, they were utterly astounded,”

There is no doubt that Jesus was coming out there to help His disciples, yet He made as though He would have passed by them. This illustrates how the Lord comes to us. He is always there in the midst of our problems, but He does not just take control. Regardless of how desperate our situations are, He waits for us to call out to Him for help. He does not force His help on us. Moreover, He is always on top of the very thing that is about to drown us. It is no problem for Him. We have to be looking for the Lord or He will pass on by.—Andrew Wommack’s Living Commentary.

So when you are sinking in sand, cry out to God and he will pull you out of the sinking sand with His outstretch arms.

Isaiah 52:10 “The LORD has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.”

Yes, God stretches His mighty arm out to those who are drowning in their sin and despair and pulls them out of their circumstances, and places their feet upon the Rock, which is Christ. His Promises our sure and He will rescue you. Trust the Lord, seek Him believe His Word. God may not be early but He is never late. He will never let you down! His arms are everlasting.

Deuteronomy 33:27 “The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. And he thrust out the enemy before you and said, Destroy.”

Make Jesus your main meal!!!!

July 13, 2010 2 comments

Make Jesus your main meal.  John 6:48 “I am that bread of life.”

Seek Him above all things. Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Cleave and rely on Christ. Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

God’s word is our spiritual nourishment, which we cannot live without it. As we depend on food for our physical bodies to grow, we also need our spiritual food, which is the Word of God. Jesus is the bread of life; we have to feed on Him to live. He is the very source of life. John 6:63 “It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

The Word of God is not just writing on paper but Words of the Spirit that go directly to the heart. Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

He is our spiritual manna, straight from heaven, John 6:58 “This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. Although God’s Word does benefit our physical man, the Word is spiritual and must be understood through the spirit (1Co 2:14). God’s Word is spirit and it takes our spirit to illuminate its truths to our minds (Pr 20:27).—Andrew Wommack’s Living Commentary.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” 1John 5:7 “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” Therefore, Jesus is the Word of God. Therefore, when you read the Word, you grow in your knowledge of Christ.

Our sustenance is from Christ Himself, the Word of God fills us with all spiritual provisions we need to live a true and victorious Christian life. The Word alone is sufficient to rule the lives of Christians everywhere. Matthew 4:4 “But he answered, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Jesus is the living eternal Word of God. So why not make Jesus your main meal. Eat Him at breakfast in the morning, then brunch, then at lunch in the middle of the day. Then you have him for a little snack, then for supper then some dinner just before you go to bed. Spend time in His Word, because you are spending time in Him, experiencing Him, knowing Him and loving Him.

Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” John 15:4 “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me”.

Meditate on the Word of God, ponder on the Word, as a cow chews and digest its food, chew, and digest the Word of God. See how the Word relates to your life, see the implications of the Word and trust God to give you a deeper understanding and a personal revelation from the Word of God. The Holy Spirit will give you the understanding and the grace to receive His Word. Psalm 119:130 “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”

You cannot try to know Christ without reading His Word. You cannot separate His Word from Him; it is like trying to separate light from the sun or heat from fire it cannot be done. Therefore, if you want to know God, you need to read His word. John 17:3 “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

Boost your day with the energy drink of the Word of God first thing in the morning to liven up your day. Take a good sleeping pill of the Word, to give you a peaceful sleep. The study of God’s Word, is the purpose of discovering God’s will, it is the secret discipline, which has formed the greatest characters.

The Bible as a book stands alone. There never was, nor ever be, another like it. As there is but one sun to enlighten the world naturally, so there is but one Book to enlighten the world spiritually. May that Book become to each of us the man of our counsel, the guide of our journey, the inspiration of our thought, and our support and comfort in life and in death. –A. Galloway

Let’s feast on the Word.

TRUTH V fACTS

July 4, 2010 Leave a comment

I remember when I first grasped this message, I was soooo exited that I had to share it with my mum. I pray that you too will also feel that same way after this blog. The words truth and fact are usually interchangeable, what is classified as a fact is usually the truth right?! Actually not always.

P.S. if you would like us to pray for you then please do not hesitate to Facebook message us or email us on truspire@ymail.com

So what is a fact? The dictionary says it is “Knowledge or information based on real occurrences” for example 2+2 =4 and most (normal people) would agree that this is also the truth. However the existence of gravity is also a fact but the law of lift supersedes it as aeroplanes have proven.

So where am I going with this? Just hold tight lool. Apart from the dictionary meaning of these words, another difference is that Facts can change while truths cannot. How is this possible you say? Well if you take the bible as the truth then how can it change?! The truth, being the bible, supersedes fact. Let me give you a few examples

Sickness: Your illness may range from a mere cold to cancer and these are facts. The doctor may have told you that you are going to die as a result of your illness but the truth (the bible) says that ‘”by his stripes ye were healed” – 1 peter 2:24. There are no ‘ifs’ not ‘buts’, the bible does place exceptions on what one can be healed.

Work life: This could be your school work like exams, essays, coursework or it could be regarding work that you need to do in your job. The fact may be that you are failing at school/university, you cannot do the work or you’re incapable of completing the challenge before you. However truth says “For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6). The word also says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” –Philippians 4:13.

Daily struggles: the fact here may be that you do not have the money to pay the rent or put food on the table or that you cannot afford to go to university. Maybe the bailiffs are after you and the creditors are breathing down you neck. However truth says that “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus” – Philippians 4:19

Salvation: The fact is hat we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, you have done some incredibly bad things by the world’s standards but the truth is that God sent His only Son to die on the cross for you and I “…But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him..” Isaiah 53:5

This truth cannot be changed because God doesn’t change!

I could go on and on and on but I’m sure you get what I’m saying. So how do we get the truth to become a fact in our life?! One word—FAITH! A plane can be perfectly crafted but it will not take off unless someone switches on the engine. So also, it’s all well and good knowing what the bible says but until to apply faith to your situation and more importantly, put your faith in God (Mark 11:22), then your situation will not change. The bible says:

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” – Matthew 17:20

Such little faith can do sooooo much and “NOTHING will be impossible for you”! WOW!!! So then if such little faith can no that then what is our problem then?! I think it’s our focus on facts, we see facts as unchangeable. Today science has developed so far to the point that anything that contradicts it seems wrong. Additionally we live in a society where we rely a lot on evidence, just take a look at the justice system. The fact that Lawyers are so important in today’s society shows how evidence based we have become so much so that an oral agreement in some cases is no longer valid because there is no evidence of it! But today make a decision to see what the bible says as the final word in your life regardless of your situation or circumstance.

Stay blessed

Sinceress xx
