Going through the motions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It comes to the point that all the things we are doing: Sunday school teacher, ushering, music director, and youth leader. To name but a few roles in church that many do, all those things were preoccupied with is no more done in love, but done out of obligation. It becomes “do I have to?” instead of “I want to!” In revelation 2:4-5;     4But I have this [one charge to make] against you: that you have left (abandoned) the love that you had at first [you have deserted Me, your first love].     5Remember then from what heights you have fallen. Repent (change the inner man to meet God’s will) and do the works you did previously [when first you knew the Lord], or else I will visit you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you change your mind and repent.

This is showing a specific state of the Ephesus church in Asia Minor (modern day turkey). They had all the external workings of a good and holy church, they were faithful, they hated evil, they tested and approved ministers that preached in the name of Jesus. However, they lacked one thing L.O.VE. Jesus says in 1 Corinthians 13:13, that the greatest of faith, hope is love. If you do anything without love, it is meaningless. 1 Corinthians 13:2. They were obeying God in obligation but not through relationship, their external appearance was holy, but their heart was empty. They lost the hope that all that there were doing will touch the heart of the Lord, and they were just going through all the motions. So many people have the appearance of a holy, faithful Christian, but there heart is far from God.

So what do we do now?

PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!

We ask God for a revival of his love, we have to the things that we did when we were first saved. As Paul said God’s love compels him, 2 Corinthians 5:14-15. The definition of compel; is that his love is so strong in our lives, that we want to do everything we can to please, and how do you please him, Hebrews 11:6, FAITH.

Matthew 6:33 we seek God first, you surrender all to him, Luke 14: 33. We need to let him direct our footsteps, Proverbs 16:9. It is not easy, but it is worth. I am on this path, and I tell you the truth, there are times when it is really heard but God says he will never forsake us 1 Samuel 12:22, Matthew 28:22, God is always going to be with us. Therefore, that is our assurance.

God says if we delight in the Lord. Definition of delight is that he wants us to take pleasure and enjoyment in him. Therefore, we need to want to follow and obey him, not feel like you have to do it. Then if you delight in the Lord he will make his desires your desires, and then you will want to obey and serve him. Psalm 37:4.

Replace have with want, obligation with relationship, and then your walk with Christ will be meaningful.

So we need a revival of Gods unconditional love in our lives, but there needs to be a conviction or there will be no change, we need to acknowledge that are situation is meaningless, and to become meaningful, we need to add Christ so let’s be constrained by Christ.

Do not let obligation be greater than your relationship with Christ, which needs to be first priority in our lives.

I will follow up on this in my next blog-contend for the spirit, or what I like to call “back to the drawing board”.

So pray for a refreshing of God’s love, and he will surely grant it to you.

COMING SOON IS BEING A CHRISTIAN SOCIAL SUICIDE.

“They lost the hope that all that there were doing will touch the heart of the Lord, and they were just going through all the motions. So many people have the appearance of a holy, faithful Christian, but there heart is far from God.”

Yup, that perfectly describes the church of my childhood. It seems like a common theme among all religions.

Delighting ourselves in our Lord Jesus is cetainly the answer. The curch is NOT the answer. Christ is the answer! So many people are going to church looking to take something when we sholud be going to church to give something. When Jesus comes to take us to be with Him many people will still be left behind sitting in the church because there is no relationship.

Exercising faith is vital, speaking things that are not as if they were (speaking things into being / creating) is essential. Living for and in Christ, even when we do not feel like it. Living for and in Christ because we know who He is and what our future is with Him. Having confidence, trusting, believing, living for Him in the bad and troubled times as well as the good and enjoyable times.
