First I would like to apologise for how late this post is, I wanted to do it for Christmas (clearly that didn’t happen) LOL. This topic has been impressed on my heart for a while now because a couple of months ago I and a few friends were talking and I was surprised (to put it lightly) to find that other Christians openly admitted that all roads lead to the same place e.g. Buddhism, Islam, Sikhism etc! I realised that other pastors and preachers professed this same belief. So I thought I’d write a short and straight to the point post about this topic proclaiming that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to heaven and the ONLY person that can save you from your sins. I pray this post blessed many of you out there.

In John 14:6 Jesus said “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” This is plain and simple. While many other religions point away to other ways that one might be saved, e.g being a good person etc Jesus Christ points to himself as the only way to the father.

In Acts 4:12 it says “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Jesus makes it very clear here that no human being can save you. This means salvation isn’t one of those “look within yourself” moments HAHA or being good to others can save you.

In John 8:23 it says – “But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.” Here Jesus tells us His not just another Human being, rather he is heaven sent so therefore looking to Him for our salvation is not the same as looking to man rather He is God in the form of man.

Isaiah 44:6 “This is what the LORD says—
Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;
apart from me there is no God.

The above verse confirms that there is no middle road, He is also the first and the last. He proclaims himself as the ONLY God, there is none equal to Him.

Revelation :17-18 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

The above two verses show what Jesus did for us so we may have eternal life. If you look to any other religion you will not find any of the other prophets or gods that loved us sooooooooo much to pay for our sins. Jesus laid down his life on the cross, so who had never sinned became sin so that our debt (which we could never pay) would be cleared. This allows us to have a relationship with our heavenly father. Rather, other religions make you work for your ‘salvation’ which we know is impossible because even if you were perfect from here on now, the sins you’d previously committed would still need to be accounted for.

Although the wages of sin is death, through Christ (and Christ alone) we can have eternal life. We cannot earn our way to heaven because as the well known saying goes “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”.

The bible tells us to “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.” (Matt 7:13) It doesn’t say enter though ANY random narrow gate, but it say THE narrow gate means there’s only one correct gate and Jesus is it.

I genuinely believe this is fundamental to our faith in that It is not debateable AT ALL! Without this believe evangelism would merely be a competition of which faith can get the most followers; having said that, it means that if we truly believe that Jesus is the only way then we have a responsibility to preach to good news to all. I would be lying if I’d said I’d never shied away from preaching the gospel to those of other faiths for fear that I would offend them but the truth it it’s tough LOVE! If you truly care about your Muslim, Hindu or Sikh friend you would what ever it takes to save them. This brings me on to the FB appeal, if you don’t know about it then get to know about it boi because it’s serious movement that started on the 16th Feb, it is compelling Christians on facebook to post videos of their testimonies on how Jesus has saved them to compel their unsaved friends and family to come to Christ. If God lays it on your heart please do your video and let’s get the gospel out there and save souls by leading people to the ONE TRUE GOD.

God bless

Sinceress xx

Thanks to God

All scriptures displayed are King James Version unless indicated otherwise.

The greatest thanks you can give to God is your service.

Romans 7:25 “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”

A thousand thank you(s) can never measure up to Christ’s atoning sacrifice. Nevertheless we can thank God by serving Him in our attitude, in our giving, in our ministry. In whatever we do, do it to the Lord.

2 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

Definitions of serve:

Serve: subordinate, submit, be used by, devote, and serve a purpose, role or function, to attend at command; to wait on.

Minister: to give, to attend to, serve

Obey: to comply with the commands, orders, instructions of a superior, or submit to the direction or control of.

God wants us to serve Him. Colossians 3:24 “Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”

We serve God by serving others. Galatians 5:13 “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”

Serve God with truth in your heart, the truth is that Jesus Christ is Lord and He deserves our full surrender. Serve Him faithfully, 1 Samuel 12:24 “Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.” Serving God not through obligation but through relationship with Him. Serve God faithfully in His sight with reverential fear and sincerity. Hebrew 12:28 “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace (thankfulness), whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:”

You can serve without love but you cannot love without serving. True service is done in a heart full of love. The very nature of God is to serve. Matthew 20:28 “Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”(ESV)

Minister and serve are used interchangeably in the scriptures with slight differences.

Minister can also denote worship unto the Lord. As you see in Acts 13:2 “As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.” (ESV translation- Acts 13:2 “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”) When we commit all are things to the Lord that is worship, when we give our offering, our time and effort to the things of the Lord that is worship. So while we are serving we focus on giving God the ultimate glory; that’s worship. Worship is a lifestyle, we need an attitude of gratitude, we need to be thankful always and be in lasting appreciation of the wonder of His ways, to the richness of His mercy and His everlasting grace, fulfilled in His Son Jesus Christ. 1Thessalonians 5:16 ‘Rejoice always.’

If you claim to have love in your heart, and do not have a desire to serve God by serving others, then love is not really in your heart. 1 John 4:8 “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” So when we have love in our hearts then we will truly want to serve others as Christ came to serve us. Galatians 5:13 “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”

Thanking God is important, (Philippians 4:6), however, thank you(s) done in action is greater than a thousand thank you(s) said in words.

The definition of thank:

To express gratitude for a favor, gratitude is the feeling or sentiment excited by kindness; thanks are the expression of that sentiment.

Therefore thank you is an expression, so it can be expressed in thoughts, words and in action. The

greatest of these is action because it combines all three in one.

If you live a lifestyle of thanks to the Lord it will be a lifestyle of serving. Putting others before you is the greatest thanks, because God put you before himself when He was on the cross. Philippians 2 puts it better; Apostle Paul exhorts the church in Philippi to love others, to treat others in higher esteem than they treat themselves. Presenting to us that this is the same mind that Christ had and we should have also.

Philippians 2:1-8 “If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”

Jesus Christ came to serve and not to be served; this gives us the right attitudes in serving others.

The highest realisation of love is Christ’s death on the cross, where God became a servant in Jesus. We as Christians try to attain to that standard by living a life of servitude to others.

When you love God you will obey Him, through obedience you will serve Him in turn serving others. Through service you will be ministering (worshiping) to God by serving others.

John 15:10 “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

You serve not because you are obligated but because you are liberated. You serve in the freedom you have received.

Service is a responsibility that should be voluntary not forced. Forced service is not service at all but legalism.

Serve God in grace, which source is Christ and means is the cross.

Therefore the greatest thanks you can give to God is a life of service in full surrender to the Lord.

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Romans 14:8 “For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.”

I would first like to start by saying I’m soooo sorry I disappeared for ages, I’ve been trying to fix my life (educationwise). I pray God helps me to be able to balance everything but thank you Seeker for holding the fort Anyways…..The topic I’d like to speak on today is one that God has laid on my heart for quite a while and it’s something I thought didn’t apply to me until a few months ago. I’ve always found it easy to get over things, I couldn’t really stay mad at people for long- too much effort, or so I thought. In my daily devotional I came across an article about ‘forgiveness’ and I realised that I’d been holding on to something for much longer than I should have. I feel that many of us my have consciously chosen not to forgive, while others, unknown to them, may be holding on to something against someone and not know. I pray God uses this article to speak to each and every one of us.

So first of all what is ‘Unforgiveness’? Well the dictionary says that It’s ‘to feel resentment against (an offender)’. This true but it’s also more than that, according to God it is, in not so many words, a kind of sin or sinful also because it keeps us bound and keeps us away from Him. It is probably to most common sin amongst Christians. The bible says “If ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matt 6:14-15). So in a sense your unforgiveness is keeping you away from God. Unforgiveness can affect our spiritual walk with God for various reasons (I will outline below). It may be that your spiritual growth is being stunted by it.

So why is unforgiveness so bad? After all you’re not hearting anyone…WRONG! You’re hearting yourself! This is because unforgiveness makes space for the devil to do his work. In 2 Corinthians 2:10-11 it says “10 If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, 11in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.” Anything that give the satan a footing in your life should be steered clear of. Think about it, the Bible tells us that satan’s aims are to ‘steal to kill and to destroy’. He’ll use it to weigh your heart down, he’ll use it to slow your spiritual walk down and eventually he’ll use it to destroy you. Every time you remember what that person did to you, you’ll start crying, or you’ll get angry and these things take its toll on one. It’s like a wound that stays open and if not treated it just gets infected and worsens, who’s suffering more, the one who caused the wound or the one who refuses to treat their wound?!

Unforgiveness goes against Jesus’ greatest instruction to us, LOVE! In 1 Corinthians 13 we see the Characteristics of love on of which is love ‘does not keep a record of wrongs’. In other words it forgives, Love doesn’t say things like ‘….like the time you did this to me…’ As children of God we must Love so how can you love and hate at the same time, they are absolutely opposite and therefore cannot co-exist. The Bible points out that ‘Hatred stirs up contentions, but love covers all transgressions.’ Proverbs 10: 12. Forgiveness is required! God has pardoned us from the greatest of sins and yet we have the audacity to hold something against someone else. Matt 6:12 says “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors”. If God has forgiven them then who are you to hold it against them?! We as Christians must practice what we preach, our test of love is not towards those who have blessed us but it’s towards those who have truly hurt us. That’s when we can practice what we preach.

“Be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” (Eph. 4:32).

So how do we know when we’ve truly forgiven someone? Well this question is easier to answer after you understand what it means to forgive.

1) Forgiveness, especially when we are heart by those we love the most, takes time. It’s not something God expects us to do in a single breath (as He did for us) but it’s something that we have to work at. However the fact that it takes time is not an excuse for us to harbour unforgiveness, we should be making every effort to move forward and submit it to God who can help us. In our own strength it may not be possible but with God it most definitely is.

2) Forgiveness requires us to give up our ‘right’ to even the score! In Romans 12:19 “Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. This goes against everything this world teaches us. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying ‘Don’t get mad, get even’. I remember in year 1 my teacher told us that if someone hits you, don’t come to me, hit them back! To be fair that’s probably an extreme case hence why the school is now closed down LOL! But you catch my drift, forgiveness requires us to leave things to God to sort it out His way.

3) Forgiving is not the same as forgetting. That is a common misconception amongst people probably thanks to that saying ‘forgive and forget’. It was probably made by some overly cheery, head-in-the-clouds, unrealistic, self righteous individual who’s never had to actually practice what they preach! The more you try to erase the memory the sharper it will probably get. The aim of forgiveness is to purge the poison from the memory so the few times that you may remember it won’t bring you pain.

I know that forgiveness is easier said than done but it’s something that’s good for us. My advice is that we should all check our hearts for any unforgiveness and if we find any, ask God to help you to let go what of it. If you put your faith in God He won’t let you down. I see unforgiveness like an iron weight attached to your leg when you’re trying to run the race of life, whether you’re strong or not, it’s most defineately going to have an effect on your pace. So don’t let it!

Every human born has an innate intuitive knowledge that there is a God!

Some say that after Adam ate the fruit of the tree of right and wrong that all his ancestors are born with an intuitive knowledge of right and wrong, and a higher sense of justice. This is commonly known as the conscience. The definition of conscience in Strong’s concordance is respectively meaning to understand or become aware, and to be conscious or (clandestinely) informed of: – consider, know, be privy, be aware-of. Therefore, it is an innate sense of knowledge. The question is of what?

Romans 1:18-20(NKJV)

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

Since the creation of the universe, all can observe God’s divinity and external power. The creation is evidence that there is a Creator, the providence of creation, the wonder of a complex creation and innate sense of right and wrong, are all evidence of a divine God.

Psalm 19:1(NKJV)

<sup>1</sup> The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Psalm 97:6(NKJV)

6 The heavens declare His righteousness,
And all the peoples see His glory.

The creation of the world reveals God’s glory. Ignorance is no excuse. No one on judgement day can claim ignorance and pass through the gates of heaven. God’s deity is clear for all to see. There is no excuse good enough to reject God existence.

Lloyd-Jones, “mere knowledge is not enough to save a man but it is enough to render a man inexcusable for his godlessness and sinfulness”.

The knowledge of God and His wrath is not enough to save a person, if a person dies in their sin, without being clothed in the righteousness’ of Christ, hell is their home. Nevertheless, when they face the Father on Judgement day, they will be inexcusable for their ungodliness and sinfulness.

Any human being born on this earth possesses innate knowledge of the wrath of God. The law of God is written in their heart, and their conscience can either condone their behaviour or charge them.

Romans 2:14-15(NKJV)

14 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them).

The knowledge of the wrath of God, His laws, a sense of right and wrong and a higher sense of justice is what every human being is born with. Moreover, it is evident that Gods external power and His Deity is evidenced in His creation, leaving man with no excuse before their Maker.

Two scriptures in John reinforce this. The Light, which is Christ, illuminates everyone that has come into the world. That does not mean that everybody is born knowing Christ and His redemptive purpose; nevertheless, all is born with a Light- intuitive knowledge of God as a divine being- why? Because God put it there.

John 1:4(NKJV)

4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

John 1:9(NKJV)

9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

God put it there so man will have no excuse and the conscience will bear witness with the Holy Spirit to the truth of the gospel. No one will stand on judgement day, and say that they did not know that there was a God. Since Gods, external glory is evidenced in His creation, and is observed by all, every excuse will be met with “depart from me, I never knew you”.

Psalm 14:1(NKJV)

1 The fool has said in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt,
They have done abominable works,
There is none who does good.

Psalm 53:1(NKJV)

1 The fool has said in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity;
There is none who does good.

It is foolish, to not believe in God, why? Because all the evidence of creation and of nature, points to a Creator. Claiming ignorance whether sincerely or insincerely is no excuse.

Therefore, the conscience is major evidence that there is a divine Diety. Brother and sisters, for souls to believe and receive Jesus they need to know about Him, and how do they know about Him, by believers preaching about Him. Our responsibility as believers is to declare the truth to all souls.

Romans 10:13-15(NKJV)

13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”[a]
14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
“ How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,[b]
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Mathew 28:18-20(KJV)

Matthew 28:18 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”

Matthew 28:20 “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Romans 10, speaks for itself, how are lost souls to call upon the name of the Lord to be saved, if they cannot believe, and how can they believe if they have not heard, and how can they have heard if they hear without a witness. Therefore, Jesus calls every Christian to step out in faith and spread the Good News.

When a person hears the truth of the Gospel, their conscience bears witness with the Holy Spirit, that the message is true. Then that conviction leads them to Christ. The conscience is convicted by the truth of the gospel.

John 8:9(NKJV)

9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience,[a] went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

The conviction of the Holy Spirit reproves and exposes the world’s view of sin, righteousness and judgement.

John 16:8-11(NKJV)

8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

Man is without excuse!!!!! So do not have one.

P.S. God said if you seek Him with all your heart you will find Him, meaning if a soul has never heard the gospel, but knows that there is something greater than themselves, and is desperately desiring for something more, they will find the true God and He will reveal Himself.

Jeremiah 29:13(NKJV)

13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Deuteronomy 4:29(NKJV)

29But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

If there is anything you do not understand, please feel free to ask questions.

Many people including Christians believe that eternal life is just living forever and it starts once we die. Of course, that is part of it, but all humans will live forever, but it all depends on where their end destinations will be, heaven or hell? In (John 17:3) “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” Jesus said that eternal life is in knowing the one true God through Jesus Christ. Once you come into that knowledge of Christ, then you can have eternal life here on earth. The word ‘know’ in the Greek in this verse is “ginōskō”. This word means more than intuitive knowledge but experientially knowing Christ. Therefore, this does denote a mere intellectual knowledge of Christ but an intimate and close personal relationship with Christ, which is truly knowing Christ.

Eternal life is a present tense possession, it can be received and enjoyed right here on earth, it does not have to be realised only after we die. (John 3:36) “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

Too many Christians are waiting for eternal life to be realised after death, when Christ has promised us abundant life here on Earth. (John 10:10) “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” This does not mean a life void of problems, but a life full of everlasting joy and peace in the midst of every circumstance.

If a person does not understand the true meaning of eternal life, they will never grasp the importance of knowing and growing in Christ, and they would never fully comprehend the relationship that Christ has for us and has made available for us to experience right here on Earth.

Christ died to bring us back into relationship and fellowship with God that Adam once had in Eden. (Genesis 3:8) “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.” Christ did not just die to save us from the torment of hell and to forgive us of our sin. Of course, that is part of the package of salvation; however, it is not the most important reason. Forgiveness of sins of course, cannot be by-passed, because without the forgiveness of sins, there would be no relationship. Sin was a barrier to that relationship that God craved with His creation, and by Jesus taking away our sins and removing the veil, human race was able to come back into harmony with God our Father through Jesus. We were and still are created for relationship and communion with God. (Revelation 4:11) “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

(1Timothy 2:4) “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

1John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

 Knowledge of Christ= Eternal Life

Therefore, the aim of salvation is relationship. You got it. Great stuff, okay let us move one. Once we have that initial knowledge of Christ, we then move into a growing relationship, and it has to be consummated with prayer (The primary purpose of prayer, read it here: http://truspire.wordpress.com/2010/09/22/the-primary-purpose-of-prayer/ ) constant and frequent communion with God, the more you fellowship in God’s presence the deeper your relationship gets with the Lord.

In this newfound relationship with Christ Jesus, we have to grow more and more in glory, truth, wisdom, faith, love and knowledge to attain to perfection.

1Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”

2Peter3:18 “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”

These scriptures suggest that we as believers should earnestly desire to grow in the knowledge of grace and truth of Christ, this thus effects how much of an abundant life one has on this earth. The more knowledge of Christ the more abundant life you have on earth. It is sad to say that many Christians are going to miss what eternal life is all about on earth, and wait until they receive it once they die and go heaven. Then they will realise that they could have tasted the Lord right here on Earth (1Peter 2:3).

So what is the primary purpose of prayer?

It is repentance, is it interceding, is it getting our needs met. Of course, all of these are important and have a place in prayer, but it is definitely not the primary purpose of prayer, the primary purpose of prayer is worship fulfilled in the confinements of intimate close and personal relationship with our heavenly Father in heaven.

Therefore, the main purpose of prayer is just worshiping and fellowship with the LORD in an intimate close and personal relationship with Christ.

John 4:23 “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

When God created Man, He created us for His pleasure. We were created and are still created for His good pleasure.

Revelation 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”

He created Man for fellowship and relationship, which was lost and Christ came to establish.

I have asked this question many times on Facebook, what is the main reason that Christ died on the cross of Calvary, and I receive various answers. The most common answer is “to save us from hell”, but if hell was not there, then would Christ still have died?

The answer is in John 3:16, 36 and John 17:3, let us take a look at these scriptures.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:36 “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

John 17:3 “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

Christ calls us all into eternal life, but what is eternal life? Knowing God, the only true God and Son Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, is eternal life. However, there is something in our way that stops us from knowing God. What is it? It is Sin.

Isaiah 59:1 “Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:”

Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

Christ did not die to just save us from hell, because if there was no hell, Christ would have still died. Christ Died primarily to remove sin from our lives so we can enter into a close personal relationship with Christ Jesus. Sin was a barrier to that close personal relationship even existing, so Christ had to cleanse us from all our sins and forgive us, to establish a new relationship found in Christ.

Therefore, prayer is just communication with the LORD, communing in His presence, having fellowship with our Heavenly Father. So then, it is mutual relationship and conversation; one speaks, then the other listens and vice versa.

Seeking God in our prayer life is the principle thing; to worship His Holy Name should be the reason and purpose to pray. Notwithstanding, other reason to pray: asking for things, interceding for others and asking for forgiveness of sins etc…

(Matthew 6:33) “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

James 4:2 “Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.”

James 4:3 “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”

Many Christians unfortunately pray to God as if he is a slot machine they just pray for when they are in need, they use Him for their own personal goals. God cannot be mocked. Nevertheless, when everything is fine and dandy there is no communication with their Father. God is not impressed. We should pray in all seasons, whether good or bad, pray without ceasing. God wants constant communication with His children. 1Thesalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”

Galatians 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

God is a person and He demands relationship with His children that believe in His salvation. We need to talk to Him as a person, not a thing. The true importance of prayer is to be intimate with your heavenly Father.

Ephesians 1:6 “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”

When you put God first in your prayer, life and you spend time worshiping Him. All other things that you crave for and need, will be satisfied according to His will. Many when wanting a thing badger God with their petitions. Prayer is not just asking, but thanksgiving, appreciation, praise, worship and faithfulness is all part of prayer. When you have asked God for a thing, you then thank God for answering it and so forth that is when you enter the realm of faith.

Many now will ask how come I prayed for that and I did not receive it, well if we take look back at James 4:2-3; many of us ask amiss, we do not ask with the right heart, or a pure motive and we do not pray according to His will. His will is His Word. If it is not His will, then you will not receive it.

1John 5:14 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”

1John 5:15 “And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

The verse is self-explanatory, if you ask anything according to His will; you have confidence and faith that He has already answered your prayer by grace, you just have to receive what you prayed for by Faith.

When you put the focus on God in prayer, He puts the Focus on you, he answers all your needs and requests, all things that you desire will be added unto you.

Let us make the main thing the main thing.

Amen.

Stay blessed.

This second part focuses on how music’s spiritual effect. It has a spiritual significance and I intend to delve more into that today. If you haven’t read part one, please do so before you read this one. (http://truspire.wordpress.com/2010/08/14/when-the-music-fades-part-1/). First of all can I take this opportunity to give well deserved shout out to Victizzle, Guvna B and Faithchild for their performance at the IndigO2 two weeks ago. T3M fully went IIINNNN and put gospel music on the map! God bless you and may God expand your territory. Ok on t the subject at hand.

If you are a regular follower of our blog you will know that a few months ago I did a two part series on the power of our words. It was called ‘Be careful what you say….. you might Just get it (part 1)’ and ‘Be careful what you say….. You might Just get it (part 2)’. If you haven’t read it before I really would recommend that you do as it will open your eyes to the power God had vested within our tongues. This can quite easily be applied to music because we are unconsciously taking in the lyrics. Do you ever find yourself reciting the words to songs, even the ones that you hate? Well music is one of the easiest channels to get something stuck in you heard. In addition, notice how almost all lyrics are in the first person, which means when you say the lyrics you begin to confess those things upon your life and the bible warns us that ‘you are snared by the words of your mouth’ – Proverbs 6:2. Please do read the article on the power of one’s words; it’s definitely an interesting read.

Music has the ability to change your mood and emotion. We tend to pick music to go with how we feel at a particular time and if you are someone that listens to secular music you will most probably pick something that will keep you down when you are already down. While in such a situation one should look to something that will uplift our spirit and keep us fighting rather than having a defeatist attitude. The bible says in Isaiah 61:3 “To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.” You think that if Paul and Salias in Acts 16 sat down sulking and singing/listening to songs with lyrics like “we’re so doomed, oh doomed doomed we are” then would they have been freed from the prison well my guess is probably not. So also in our sad times we should not turn to secular music that will keep us down but turn to God and music that will lift us up and leave no room for the devil to convince us of anything that is contrary to God’s word.

Music can be seen as a very power tool. With it we may, unknown to us, attract or repel spirits. An example of this can be found in Samuel 16:12-23 where Saul lost favour in the Lord’s sight and was tormented by a spirit. Here we see that music was used as a way alleviating the torment. One could say that music has the ability to deny spirits access to the listener. However, in this case David was playing the Harp and he had been anointed so one could say that as a result the music was anointed but this does not detract from the fact that music can be used as a tool.

The power of music is also evident in Joshua 6:1-27 where The walls of Jericho came down through the use of music and musical instruments. This is just another example of God working through music to get the job done.

Music in the form of praise can be used to seek deliverance from God as we can see form the Psalm below.

Psalm 69:29-36

<sup>29</sup> I am in pain and distress;
may your salvation, O God, protect me.
30 I will praise God’s name in song
and glorify him with thanksgiving.
31 This will please the LORD more than an ox,
more than a bull with its horns and hoofs.
32 The poor will see and be glad-
you who seek God, may your hearts live!
33 The LORD hears the needy
and does not despise his captive people.
34 Let heaven and earth praise him,
the seas and all that move in them,
35 for God will save Zion
and rebuild the cities of Judah.
Then people will settle there and possess it;
36 the children of his servants will inherit it,
and those who love his name will dwell there

This is reiterates my point with regards to the spiritual power of music and how as Christians we should be tapping into this for good rather than being snared by it.

So next time start listening to a song please take into account how strong music is and how it can affect your life.

FAQs and FSS (Frequently Said Statements)

So what if there is a secular song that fits the criteria that you are talking about in terms of not offending God is it ok to listen to it?

Hmm….well good luck finding one that would completely line up with God’s standards but one the rare occasion that you might stubble upon such a song then well my next question would be does the artist’s life reflect God’s standards? I ask this because we as Christians shouldn’t support those who loath our God and undermine anything He has written in his word. It may sound a bit harsh but the truth is if your pastor’s personal life did not match up with his what he’s saying on a Sunday then would it be wise to take advice from him? I think not. So also, if this artist’s life does not glorify God well I wouldn’t want to entertain his work.

Truth be told I think this should also apply to Christian artists as well. I mean it is all well and good writing lyrics like ‘Jesus loves you’ but does their life reflect God’s love? Do they treat people as Jesus would want us to? Do they live a life that is Holy and acceptable to God? All this is food for thought.

I’m mentally strong so I’m not affected by the words of the songs

IIIISSSSSSS IIIITTT??! So even though the word of God tell us to ‘guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life’ (Proverbs 4:23) you are the statistical anomaly, the one God wired differently to the rest of us. You are not flesh and blood, if this is the case then go ahead and invite the devil over for lunch and play with weighie boards because such things are unlikely to affect you. But mate on a seriously level…..THERE IS NO SUCH THING!! Your mind will absorb what you hear because that’s how God made us to function. The bible says faith comes by HEARING and hearing by the word of God’ which suggests that there is power in what you hear how it can influence you spiritually. So please do not deceive yourself by saying you are ‘mentally strong’, with that mentally the devil will run riot in your life because you will allow him to plant pretty much anything in you.

What if I’m just listening to the beat?

Really? I mean are you sure? As I’ve said in this blog entry whether you like it or not the words of the song are entering into your subconscious. Some may say the solution is just to get the beat alone i.e. the instrumental, I don’t know about you but the beat tends to remind me of the original lyrics and I end up just thinking of the song or singing the song which not too good, especially when the lyrics are something like ‘drop it like it’s hot’ LOL! My advice would be to find your genre of music within gospel scene because trust me it most probably will be there. However it is more than that then keep on reading for further advice.

I understand that getting off secular music is easier said than done. For some people the only thing holding them back is that they lack choice but I guarantee you that music on the gospel scene is becoming really diverse. For others music has a spiritual hold on them. The truth is that we need God to help us and if you really want God to rein in every part of your life just be honest about your struggles and as Him to help you because He will. Some of you may be on secular music because it has helped through difficult times in your life but the truth is in times like these one should turn to God the Bible says “Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalm 55:22 (NLT). Rather than turning to man or man made solutions, make a decision to turn to God instead.

Hope this has really helped you guys and if there is anyone struggling on these lines or on anything for that matter, please feel free to contact us via Facebook message and we can join you in prayers.

Stay Blessed

Sinceress xx

OK MUSIC, there have been various debates and discussions on whether Christians should listen to secular music. Firstly I’d like to reiterate that the focus here is not on styles of music (reggae, hip hop, pop etc) or on instruments (drums, guitar etc) as there is nothing in the bible to discredit or condemn these things.

There are many Christians who feel that certain types of music are ‘devilish’, rock in particular has received this title and this is ever increasing with regards to Hip Hop. However, there is absolutely no condemnation from the bible for ANY type of music rather we should see these as personal preferences as we are not all the same and thus our rhythm and tastes are different. We should celebrate this not, segregate those who have different tastes to us.

With regards to instruments, many churches do not use instruments such as the drums because they feel the beat is ‘unholy’. Ok, granted the bible does not make explicit reference to the drums BUT in Psalm 68:25 and Ezra 3:10 there mention of other percussion instruments such as the ‘tambourine’ which also make a beat. So then if it’s not the style of music or the instruments used what is our focus??? The content!

But in order to really understand the gravity of this topic we must first address the reason why music is so important and powerful. Lucifer, before becoming the prince of darkness, was an angel. God created him to be the minister of music in heaven, he was in charge of the choir, the instruments and basically in charge of the praise and worship, evidence for this is found in Job 38:7, Ezekiel 28:13 – 16.

Job 38:7 – When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy

N.B – the definition of Lucifer is ‘morning star’, which put’s this verse into context.

Ezekiel 28:13 - Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: THE WORKMANSHIP OF THY TIMBRELS AND OF THY PIPES WAS PREPARED IN THE DAY THAT THOU WAST CREATED.

14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering CHERUB, from the midst of the stones of fire.

N.B — There Ezekiel begins by talking about a human being but goes on talk about Satan before his fall. A cherub is an angel so Satan was the ‘anointed’ cherub which show his position in heaven.

The bible also says that He was beautiful and had quite a high ranking in Heaven. Unfortunately, this was not enough for him and of course the rest is history. Our main focus here is the fact that Satan is VEERRY familiar with music and it’s power, you could say it’s what he knows best in the sense that he is an in built music machine (Job 38:7). This being the case, then would it not make sense that he would use his best weapon for his ‘master plan’, which is to ‘steal, kill and destroy’ (John 10:10).

Aside from this, the primary purpose of music was meant to be a tool to give God praise. If we use, David, the bible’s most famous psalmist, we see that that all of his psalms were referring to how great God is, and just reverencing His name. When you have time I would highly recommend that you spend some time in the book of Psalms and you’ll see what I mean.

In addition, if we claim to love God and seek to please him then shouldn’t everything we do give Him praise and glory? (Colossians 3:17). If we look at the lyrics within a secular song we will see that they promote sex, violence, power, porn, revenge, love only based on physical attraction, lust, self worship, worshipping money, the demotion of God and much more. Such things hurt our Lord as we listen to such music it shows that we condone and support what God doesn’t. Is that the type of message we want to send to unbelievers??

Another reason against listening to secular music is that we are polluting our spirit. We spend hours praying and seeking God’s face and then go and undo it with the trash that secular music promotes. One may spend time praying for God to save from them something they are going through then you’ll go and listen to something like Jay-Z’s “Empire state of mind” which says “Jesus can’t save you”. Whether you like it or not, you are feeding you spirit and harming your faith. The devil is using it as a tool to send his message to you, and you are letting it in on a regular basis. Just as we can deposit God’s word into our hearts, we can also do the same with the devil’s message and a house divided against itself will not stand (Matt 12:25).

It also makes you a hypocrite! You claim to love God and seek to please Him in everything you do, then you go and listen to everything that pleases His enemy, Satan. You go to church on Sunday praising God, singing, “This is my desire, to honour you………Lord I give you my heart…I live for you alone, every breath that I take, every moment I’m awake, Lord have your way in me.” You stand there and wave you hands in the air and say ‘amen’. Then after the service is done, you hop in the car to put you headphones in you ear and start your praise session with Satan! Then during the week to may have an opportunity to evangelise and you start telling so-and-so to turn from their evil ways…..YOU PHARISEE! How can we tell unbelievers to turn from the evil we continue to do?! It’s the pot calling the kettle black! Jesus put it best in Matt 7:3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”

Well that’s where I’m going to stop today. Stay tuned for part 2 next week. Next week’s edition will include a question and answer section so please send it all your questions on secular music to us via facebook, email (truspire@ymail.com).

Stay Blessed

Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

Mark 13:33 “Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.”

Colossians 4:2 “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

If your guard is not up, then Christ is not your strong hold and you are not putting on the full armour OF GOD. You have left yourself defenceless and vulnerable to attack. Definition of guard is protection, defence, being in watch over anything threatening to keep in safety. If we fail to withstand the devils attack then we are not operating in the full armour OF GOD. We have to guard ourselves from spiritual attack, and when they do come, you have to be prepared to do spiritual battle. God has given you all this armour to win and be victorious. If Christ can defeat Satan in His weakest moments (Matthew 4), we can defeat the enemy in our weak and strongest moments.

Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”

We have to stand strong in Gods strength and not our own. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13), it is not by power nor by might but by the Spirit says the Lord of Hosts (Zechariah 4:6), we do nothing in our own power or by might but by the Spirit of our Lord God.

Ephesians 6:11“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

To stand in the evil day we have to be clothed in the amour of God. We are in the evil day, so we have to continue to stand clad in the whole armour OF GOD. Seven pieces of armour are mentioned. Five are defensive and two are offensive, with one being preparatory. The armour is mentioned as being: a belt, a breastplate, shoes, a shield, a helmet, a sword, and prayer.

Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Are war is not carnal, but spiritual, we have to be spiritually ready to resist the devil and flee, by focusing on Christ and submitting to Him (James 4:8). Likewise, we may sincerely desire to never deny our Lord, but it takes more than desire; it takes preparation. We have all been taught how to rely on ourselves, but we have to learn anew how to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10). Just as in the physical realm, muscles have to be exercised to become strong, so we have to exercise ourselves unto godliness (1Timothy 4:7).

Eph 6:13 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

You have to put on the whole armour OF GOD, not just part of it, some people are running around with just the helmet of salvation and have no sword of the Spirit to attack the enemy. We are exhorted three times to put on the full armour OF GOD not some of it. Do not be left defenceless and vulnerable.

Ephesians 6:14 “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”

Christ is the truth, the only truth (John 14:6). When we have received Christ, we have received the Truth. We have to surround ourselves with the truth of Christ and to continue to be sanctified by the truth. When you act upon the truth, it will set you free (John 8:32). When you know the truth, you will not be entangled in our own web of deceit. The belt of truth holds things in place, holds up the whole armour. The truth keeps us secure in Christ and makes effective all the other pieces of armour. Truth is the sincerity of the heart. Sincerity leads us to be open before God. To have the belt of truth is to look to Jesus as the only truth. If Satan can remove/disarm of us of our belt, he will defeat us.

Righteousness is received at salvation; it is the source of God Himself, a very gift from God, which only comes through faith. It gives us total acceptance before God through Christ. Righteousness allows us to stand before God, men and demons. Without the breastplate of righteousness, our faith would be like any mere religion – a form of godliness but no power to act. The Holy Spirit within us now gives us the life and power to live above sin. He imparts in you godly living. This is the breastplate of righteousness. Righteousness is God’s double-sided protection for the Christian. It defends our conscience from all the wounds inflicted by past sin and failures and also keeps us from the constant array of temptations and lust that desire to inflict more harm on us.

Ephesians 6:15 “And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.”

The shoes of the gospel of peace makes a messenger prepared to share the glad tidings of peace. This piece of armour is to aid our movement and defence and not our appearance. The shoes that keep us going over hard ground and the shoes that equip us with something to offer to the needy souls along the way.

Ephesians 6:16 “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

We walk by faith not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7); it protects us from the attacks of the enemy. It is the most important armour to put on, without this all the other parts of the armour our exposed. It quenches the fiery arrows of the evil one, not some of them but ALL of them. We can have total victory in Christ Jesus as He is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Faith is the confidence and assurance we have in the crucified and risen Christ. Faith is lifting our eyes up to God and relying on the greater One in us to see us through.

Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”

There is a battlefield going on in the mind, the helmet of salvation protects our head from the wrong kind of thinking. We have to take captive every thought that exalts himself above the knowledge of Christ, being transformed by the renewing of our mind by the word of God. We need to keep focused on Christ the hope of our salvation. Hope is of the mind, it covers the head, and it is our helmet (1 Thessalonians 5:8). A man can survive several days without food or water but take away hope and he will commit suicide immediately. An understanding of what God has promised us brings us hope. God does not lie. Our hope is based on Him. A Christian with the helmet of the hope of salvation will not get confused with the fleeing pleasures of sin. Nor will they trade their birthright (salvation) for the temporary lusts of the world.

The sword of the Spirit is our offensive weapon; we use it to strike down the enemy. The Word of God is hidden in our heart, activated by the power of the Holy Spirit and spoken in an appropriate situation. The Word of God is sharper than a two-edged sword (Hebrews 12:4).

Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”

The last part of the Christian armour, which is prayer. pray with all diligence. The phrase “all prayer,” means various kind of prayer in the in the Spirit. Prayer is more than just asking, there is a prayer of thanksgiving, of praise, of rejoicing of worship, prayer of intercession, a prayer of agreement and a prayer of dedication. It is inappropriate to ask for something more than once, but we can and should continue to pray with these other forms of prayer until we see our answer manifest in the flesh. Prayer is another form of absolute dependence and reliance upon God for His divine intervention. In the “Spirit” means prayer directed by God’s Spirit and in accordance with God’s will (1John 5:14-15). Paul used this terminology when referring to praying in tongues (1Corinthians 14:2, 15; Jude 20; 1Corinthians 14:15). Therefore, this includes praying in tongues.

A great amount of information was used from Andrew Wommack’s ministries and Word library. To God be the glory for their ministries.

Be armed and ready, keep you guard up.

God promises that he will save us. He promises to stretch out His mighty arms and rescue us out of the sinking sand of drunkenness, homosexuality, hatred, unforgiveness, bitterness, lies, depression and anxiety. These are obviously not the will of God for our life, so then why do we still experience them? We experience all theses because our total focus on Christ has been shaken.

Psalm 16:11 “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

If our focus is on Christ and we are constantly resting in His presence, then we would have joy, and not anxiety or depression. You cannot contain joy, depression, bitterness, anxiety, hatred and unforgivness in your heart at the same time, so you have one or the other. So if you abiding in God’s presence and experiencing His joy, then you would not experience, Unforgiveness, bitterness, lies, depression, anxiety and so forth.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

If we sought God with all our heart, we would not be anxious. The root of all anxiety is worrying, worrying of what you are going to eat, wear, do and so forth.

Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious (worry) about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?”

Mat 6:26” Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Mat 6:27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

Mat 6:28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,

Mat 6:29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Mat 6:30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Mat 6:31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

Mat 6:32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.”

If we put our trust in Christ, rest and focus on him, we would not worry about these things, and be less anxious.

Philippians 4:6 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Again, a way to combat anxiety is to give thanks and praise God in all circumstances, which will produce joy in your life in the mists of the storm.

Mat 7:24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Mat 7:25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

Mat 7:26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.

Mat 7:27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

The reason why we sink in the mist of our problems is that Christ is not our firm foundation. If Christ is our firm foundation then we will be secure and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts from worry and doubt. If you build, upon a weak foundation, (anything that is not Christ), you will fall, if you build upon a solid foundation (Christ) then you will be secure and withstand the storm. You build upon the sure foundation of Christ by spending time with Him, seeking Him, praying, worshiping Him and reading His word by establishing an ongoing personal relationship with our Father and to be a doer of the word not just a hearer only.

Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Moreover, the joy of the Lord will enable you to float calmly in mist of your storms.

Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

Galatians 5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

If we are operating in the fruit of the Spirit, then we would not be holding unto bitterness, unforgiveness, hatred and so on. They both cannot be in your heart; it is one or the other.

SO CHOOSE!

Galatians 5:24 “And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Galatians 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”

Let us be led by the Spirit, feed the spirit and starve the flesh by spending time in God’s presence by reading, meditating in His word, praying and praising Him for His goodness and reverencing Him and worshiping Him. Do not be controlled and dominated by your emotions, submit your emotions to God’s will but be dominated by the Word of the Lord.

Psalm 116:2 “Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.

Psalm 91:15 “When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honour him.”

When you are sinking cry out to God, “Abba, Father”, and He will surely answer you.

Mar 6:45 “Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd.

Mar 6:46 And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray.

Mar 6:47 And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land.

Mar 6:48 And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them,

Mar 6:49 but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out,

Mar 6:50 for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

Mar 6:51 And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. Moreover, they were utterly astounded,”

There is no doubt that Jesus was coming out there to help His disciples, yet He made as though He would have passed by them. This illustrates how the Lord comes to us. He is always there in the midst of our problems, but He does not just take control. Regardless of how desperate our situations are, He waits for us to call out to Him for help. He does not force His help on us. Moreover, He is always on top of the very thing that is about to drown us. It is no problem for Him. We have to be looking for the Lord or He will pass on by.—Andrew Wommack’s Living Commentary.

So when you are sinking in sand, cry out to God and he will pull you out of the sinking sand with His outstretch arms.

Isaiah 52:10 “The LORD has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.”

Yes, God stretches His mighty arm out to those who are drowning in their sin and despair and pulls them out of their circumstances, and places their feet upon the Rock, which is Christ. His Promises our sure and He will rescue you. Trust the Lord, seek Him believe His Word. God may not be early but He is never late. He will never let you down! His arms are everlasting.
